The Hojiblanca olive tree is a subtropical Mediterranean evergreen native to the Spanish Andalusia region.
Many of the Hojiblanca’s captivating visual traits are also what makes it remarkably versatile, resilient and self-reliant.
The tree’s fruit produces what is considered a premium varietal olive oil; yet the Hojiblanca can live for as long as 1000 years.
Its name hojibanca means “white-leaved” in Spanish, because it has two-tone leaves with white undersides and darker tops. The resulting high photosynthesis efficiency allows it to thrive in full-sunlight or moderately-shaded settings, and its strong vigor means higher rate of mass production which creates its stunning trunk of dramatically knurled and twisted features.
Its canopy is of medium density and adapts to widely varying sunlight/shade ratios and temperature range. Because it doesn’t need direct sunlight, the Hojiblanca can be placed with other tree types for an arbor or shade stand, yet it is self-fertilizing making it non-dependent on insects or other plant species in order to flower.
Once mature, the Hojiblanca olive tree requires minimal watering or care.
The Piel Joven Hojiblanca is an excellent entry point tree for anyone just starting out on their olive tree journey.
Ranging in age from 20 to 40 years old, the smaller size and easy-care make the Piel Joven Hojiblanca suitable for smaller or even indoor spaces, and have a lifespan measured in centuries.
The trunk of the Piel Joven Hojiblanca is elegantly slim yet holds up to strong wind, making them a stylish and durable choice for accentuating a border line or as a natural privacy blind.
The tree’s smooth, whitish-gray skin (piel joven is Spanish for ‘young skin’) adds a touch of refined rusticity to any high-end landscaping design.
The Molteno olive tree, a revered symbol of resilience and acclimation, was first brought from its Mediterranean region homeland to South Africa in the late 1800s. This tough-as-it-is-lovely evergreen has since become an integral part of that country’s landscape and economy.
The Molteno is more than an olive-producing tree. Though its fruit and oil are highly prized culinary commodities, the popularity doesn’t stop there…
It’s now a rising star in the fast growing luxury home-landscaping community in Thailand, and it’s easy to see why:
With its soothingly rustic silvery-green foliage that keeps a year-round sheen, the Molteno olive tree tastefully up-styles the surroundings anywhere it’s grown. And owning a Molteno is a generational landscaping decision, one that will captivate and charm for decades to come.
Resilient, easy to care for, and stunningly beautiful, the Molteno Olive Tree is a home-landscaper's dream-come-true. A rare ornamental “immigrant” tree that combines a rich heritage, remarkable adaptive qualities and warrior-like resilience that brings a dramatic dash of chic Mediterranean allure to any commercial grounds or indoor living space.
The Spanish Hausca olive tree is a fast-growing, long-lived tree that can reach heights of up to 20 feet.
It is also very hardy and can withstand extreme temperatures and drought conditions.
The tree has an open, airy canopy that provides shade and helps to prevent soil erosion.
The leaves of the tree are a glossy dark green and have a pleasant, mild scent.
The bark of the tree is a dark grayish-brown and is used in traditional medicine for its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.
One of the tree’s most striking features is the twisted trunk that becomes more “stylishly deformed” with age.
Another element of the tree’s overall visual presence are its distinctive leaves, designated as “lanceolate”, or having a shape similar to a lance (medieval battle pole).
The 1 to 1½-inch leaves have a leathery texture, gracefully tapering at each end. While the top is dark green in color, the leaf’s underside is a noticeably lighter shade, creating a pleasant “flickering” effect when breezes pass through.
Interestingly, this two-toned leaf-color motif of the wild Sylvestris is shared by its high-class cultivated cousin, the Hojiblanca.
Owing to its slow growth and uncommon beauty, the Sylvestris is suitable for artistic purposes like topiary and bonsai.
The Farga olive tree is among the oldest olive tree cultivars, with their origins in “mother” groves that are hundreds, or even up to more than 1,000 years old.
In addition to its popularity as a rare and captivatingly beautiful old-growth/ancient variety, it is also prized for
high-quality olive oil it can produce due to a combination of characteristics that favor superior fruit bearing qualities.
The Farga’s high vigor and open bearing give it a posture that adapts well to waterside growth, such as overhanging a pond or small lake.
In such a setting, they are known to grow into natural,
canvas-worthy tableaux that reflect its timeless beauty.
The Arbequina olive tree, originally hailing from Spain, a true gem among ornamental trees. Its rich history and renowned beauty have made it a sought-after choice for landscaping enthusiasts worldwide.
This tree is the perfect size for making your garden or outdoor space look extra nice. It's not too big or too small, so it fits well in lots of different spots.
The best thing about the Arbequina tree is its leaves. They are shiny and green colors. They stay looking fresh and new all year. The branches hang down in a nice way that makes you feel calm and happy.
When you get an Arbequina olive tree, it's like giving a present to your family for a long, long time. These trees live for many years, so your kids and even their kids can enjoy the shade and beauty.
The Morrut (also called "Morruda") is a wild olive tree native to the northeastern Spanish regions of Tarragona and Castellón, where the climate is defined by heavier than average rainfall and wide temperature swings from summer to winter.
In terms of size, the stately subtropical evergreen is in the medium to large range for mature olive trees, with a broadly spreading stance that make it perfect as a view-blind or as part of a shade arbor.
But whatever the specific horticultural application you choose for your tree, the Morrut’s aesthetic value as a “natural artwork” makes it a popular tree in the world of luxury landscaping.
Its dark green leaves are elliptical in shape and slightly twisted, creating a ‘dancing in the wind’ effect with the slightest breeze and providing a dynamic element that starkly contrasts the tree’s firmly rooted stature.
Once reaching maturity, the olea europaea is remarkably self-sufficient and acclimates easily to a variety of weather and soil conditions. Although olive trees are happiest in warm, dry Mediterranean-like climates, in the later phases of their growth they can develop more extreme environmental tolerances such as frost resistance.
The rewards of owning an old-growth or ancient Spanish olive trees are much more than just their stunning beauty and storybook-like longevity that ranges from a century to a millennium. When you commit to a lifelong partnership with a time-seasoned ornamental olive tree, you accept the mantle of its long history, and become the steward of a small part of its long existence as a generational heirloom and living legacy.

All olive trees flower as part of the natural growth cycle, however there are two possible types of flower that any given olive tree will produce. While a so-called perfect flower contains both male and female components needed to grow fruit, a male flower contains only pollen-producing elements and by definition cannot create edible olives. Although olive trees can be encouraged to produce fruit-viable flowers through soil treatment and aggressive pruning, our service is focused on post-import cultivation, preparation and relocation to a new growing environment, and our tree selection includes those valued for their unique aesthetic qualities and endurance. Therefore, a successful olive tree transplant, site adaptation and growth maturation is not contingent upon the tree you purchase bearing fruit.
The process of carefully up-rooting and transplanting a mature olive tree to its new home requires a moderate amount of care and maintenance, but no more than any other cherished and valued ornamental tree.
It is important to understand that your newly transplanted olive tree might experience a shock period in response to its new living environment, which can disrupt the development of a strong root system.
This is why some care and planning during this important first year is required. Placement is critical, as your new tree will need sufficiently fertile soil, constant sun exposure and proper draining for weekly deep-watering, while the monthly application of high-nitrogen fertilizer and wind protection should be part of your nurture routine.
And you may bond with your beloved tree with an occasional pruning to promote flowering.
As part of your purchase, our experienced tree transplant technician will visit the transplant location during this critical first year for field clinic check, soil refreshing and routine post-transplant maintenance.
Our experienced technicians will be on-site to assure proper packing, soil prepping and planting are carried out to exacting standards of a business that takes pride in its work.
Our specialized service is focused on olive trees of more than 100 years old, with successful installations at residential and commercial sites.
